By popular request, this fun class is back! If you want to try your hand at a free-form, sculptural piece of basketry, this class is for you. In this workshop, we will be using sea grass with a variety of materials, among them driftwood, gourds and gourd pieces, found objects from land and sea, ribbon, beads, and many other things to create a truly unique piece of art. It helps to have some experience in coiling.
- sharp scissors
- apron or wear old clothing
- plastic dish pan
- old towel
- any objects you want to incorporate (in addition to what is supplied by instructor)
- some favorite CD’s
- and a sense of adventure (and bag lunch).
- Materials fee of $35.00 payable to instructor.
Gisela Damandl came to the Naples area after retiring from teaching in Pennsylvania. Her fascination with Native American craft has inspired her to create pine needle baskets and small weavings. She teaches workshops at the J.C. Campbell Folk School and at BIG ARTS, as well as at her home. She exhibits her work in PA and at Sanibel shows.
