Zentangle encourages everyone to discover the joy of drawing. Zentangle is an easy-to-learn method of drawing beautiful images by combining structured patterns. Patterns or “tangles” are demonstrated using a series of “step outs” as students draw and learn 6 patterns. Shading enhancements will be taught. Each student will receive a black fine ink pen, pencil, two 3.5” paper tiles and a shading tool. The basic concept, history and benefits of the Zentangle method will be presented. The purpose of Zentangle is twofold. As a meditative practice, it is satisfying, soothing and relaxes the brain. As an art tool, Zentangle inspires creativity and encourages people to unleash their inner artist even if they have no formal art training or previous experience. Artists too are very enthusiastic about this fun and creative exercise.

Zentangle is:

  • fun
  • easy
  • therapeutic
  • relaxing/meditative
  • creative
  • an artistic confidence booster
  • hand-eye coordination exercise
  • brain fitness
  • a focus builder
  • great creative outlet
