As always, BIG ARTS is proud to present a wide array of stunning and enriching art exhibits for our community and visitors alike. This March is no exception, as two new exciting shows take up residency in the fabulous Phillips and Founders Galleries.
Both of our new exhibits are open and juried, kicking off with Pressing Matters in the Founders Gallery. Exploring all forms of printmaking, works may include woodcuts, etchings, engravings, lithographs and other graphic techniques. Each entry is a unique, original hand-pulled piece that you won’t find anywhere else, submitted by artists across the country assuring a huge variety of styles, themes, and subject matter. Gator Tails, Robert Rauschenberg
In Phillips Gallery, BIG ARTS welcomes the submissions of the After Rauschenberg juried exhibit. The amazing diversity and innovation of Robert Rauschenberg— a legendary artist with deep ties to the Sanibel community—is the basis for entries in this exhibit. Rauschenberg famously experimented with non-traditional methods and materials in his paintings, sculpture, combines and more, yet he also displayed rigor and concern for formal painting and traditional styles. Each entrant is encouraged to take inspiration from Rauschenberg’s remarkable creativity and revolutionary style.
The Fine Arts Reception begins at 5:30 on March 24. Both exciting exhibits open March 22 and run until April 29.
Fine Arts receptions are free to attend.
