The elements of design and composition will be discussed\, and several collages will be developed\, with the end result a collage to be used for a painting. On day 2 you will receive a printed sketch of your collage\, to create an abstract watercolor painting. This is not a class for beginning watercolor painters; although you will learn watercolor techniques\, it will be assumed you have painting experience\, as I will not be teaching the basics of watercolor. On the first day\, along with discussion of design elements\, I will have samples of abstracts as well as doing demonstrations. At the end of the day\, each student will decide which collage they wish to use in order to create a painting\, I will take photos of each one and return with a line drawing on day two\, so the student can paint from the line drawing to create a painting. On the second day I will demonstrate how to paint from a photo of your collage\, taking you step-by-step through the process\, with individualized instruction.
