SUMMARY:Naturally Connected
DESCRIPTION:(Top Left) El Levy (Top Right) Ke’siah Parsons (Bottom Left) Katie Havener (Bottom Right) Diana Talavera \nArtist Reception: Saturday\, November 14\, 5PM \n“No matter where we come from\, we are all connected through the people around us\, the animals we share nature with\, and the environment we surround ourselves with. Even though each of our stories are different\, we come together to show that we’re more connected than we might think.” \n— Contributing Artists: Katie Havener\, El Levy\, Ke’siah Parsons\, Diana Talavera \nContributing Artists’ Bios \nKatie Havener“As a recent graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University\, I have been working to develop my style and strengthen my ability to create immersive scenes. Through my paintings\, I explore the connection between animals and the habitats they call home\, bringing attention to the environments that allow them to thrive. I am always looking for new ways to artistically capture the relationship between wildlife and the world around it.” \nEl Levy“Following my studies at Florida Gulf Coast University\, I’ve taken an interest in using my art as a medium in expressing the vulnerability of the human experience. I believe that our belongings and personal spaces can offer a glimpse into our lives— our values\, our struggles\, and our identities alike. My art aims to capture intimate scenes in their rawest forms and the connections between people and their respective environments.”  \nKe’siah Parsons“I graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and have been painting for almost ten years. Art has always been more than just making paintings to me it’s how I work through everything life throws at me. Every piece I create tells a story that I don’t always have the words to say\, turning my emotions and experiences into something people can see and connect with. Creating has become a form of healing for me mentally\, emotionally\, and physically\, and my hope is that others can find a piece of themselves in my work too.” \nDiana Talavera“I have always had a love for nature\, culture\, and animals. In my work I explore how landscapes shape the people who inhabit them and influence the vessels and objects they create. I explore how the land becomes intertwined with the origins of cultures\, communities\, people\, and animals\, reflecting the deep relationships that develop between them.”

At the time\, Eden was producing her first independent film while supporting herself as a barista. Justin\, drawn first by her coffee and then by her smile\, found plenty of reasons to stop in every morning. Before long\, they discovered they had attended elementary school together years earlier in New York City. Their relationship blossomed over cinema and cappuccinos\, and they were married in New York in 2002. Since then\, they have produced many films—and two sons. \nOver the past three decades\, Eden and Justin have worked on dozens of film projects\, both together and independently. A common thread throughout their work is a commitment to exploring social issues through deeply personal\, character-driven stories. Their collaborations include the feature documentaries No Impact Man (directed by Justin\, produced by Eden)\, Left on Purpose (directed by Justin\, produced by Eden)\, and Chasing Childhood (directed by Eden\, with cinematography by Justin). \nAs a producer\, Eden has been behind acclaimed independent narrative films including Kissing Jessica Stein and Swingers. More recently\, she directed the acclaimed short documentary Classroom 4\, which was shortlisted for the 2026 Academy Awards. \nJustin’s latest feature documentary\, Death & Taxes\, screened at BIG ARTS this past spring. The film explores wealth\, inheritance\, and economic inequality through the story of his relationship with his late father\, Harvey Schein\, a longtime Sanibel resident. When he isn’t directing\, Justin works as a cinematographer and has shot more than 60 films. He was the lead cinematographer on Crip Camp\, which won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. \n \n PURCHASE FILM FESTIVAL PACKAGE\n \nThe Film Festival Package includes an admission ticket for each of the 5 films\, opening reception\, post film Q&As\, catered box dinner\, filmmaker talk and closing reception. \nTo purchase tickets to individual films\, please call the Box Office at 239.395.0900.  \nThere is a 5% non-refundable processing fee for any ticket purchased over the phone or online.
