SUMMARY:I Am My Home - Mariapia Malerba
DESCRIPTION:Artist Reception: Friday\, November 7\, 2025\, 5:00 PM \nWithout the corals\, the octopus has no sanctuary.  \nWithout the reef\, a thousand of species lose their story. \nWithout care\, we lose our home. \nTo hold life\, we must protect what sustains it.  \nTo feel at home in this world\, we must remember we are not alone in it. \n-Mariapia Malerba

SUMMARY:The Profound Drama of the Ordinary - René Miville
DESCRIPTION:Image Title: Caught \nArtist Reception: Friday\, March 20\, 2026\, 5:00 PM \nMiville\, an innovator in the process of chemical manipulation using the classic darkroom printing method\, created a substantial body of work in the late 1980s and early 1990s\, at the dawn of digital photography. Each work consists of silver gelatin-paper with the basic chemical elements of developer\, stop\, and fixer applied; a pure photograph as we know one. However\, he painted the chemistry on the photo paper. Miville’s opposing aesthetic journey sparked a vigorous curiosity and interest among museum curators and international collectors. LEARN MORE

SUMMARY:Glass Fused Art - Wed\, April
DESCRIPTION:Wednesdays\, April 1\, 8\, 15\, 22\, 2026from 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM \n4-session class fee: $168 / $135 annual donorsBeginning Student Kit: $125 \nThis class will combine beginning and advanced students. A hands‐on learning experience offering an outlet for creativity for those who are artistically blessed\, as well as those who are artistically challenged. \nPetra will provide students with guidance and assistance\, demonstrating procedures and basic glass fusing techniques\, and will include compatibility and testing\, annealing\, and slumping. Art glass\, frit\, stringers\, and high-fire paints will be used to produce tiles\, dishes\, jewelry\, bowls\, clocks\, and more. The advanced kiln-forming techniques take fusing to another level. Mold making\, pattern bars\, combing\, and casting will be some of the techniques explored.  \nThe costs of materials vary depending on the projects you create. \nBeginners will purchase their kits on the first day of class. The Beginning Student Kit for $125 includes all the necessary tools and supplies you will need for your first project. \nSupplies are purchased directly from the instructor. \nAdditional material costs will depend on the quantity of glass purchased and the size of the projects you choose to create. Glass purchases are measured by length & width.  Each student invoice tracks all glass purchases to be paid to the instructor at the end of the session. \nWorking in glass can become costly\, but Petra will show you how to use it economically; and the value of your finished work will generally exceed that of the materials. As Petra always says\, “Glass is difficult to mess up.” You will be able to create anything from functional to expressive\, from jewelry to sculpture\, from tableware to wall art. Nearly everything is possible in the craft of glass fusing. \n \n Studio Safety& Etiquette\n \n \n Artistbio\n \nCall the box office to register: 239-395-0900 \nCancellation deadline: 03/25/2026 \nStudent Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made more than one week (7 days) prior to the start of class will receive an 80% refund.  OR – funds may be applied to any other workshop of your choice during the current season. \nRegistration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable for cancellations made less than one-week prior to the start of the class. \nBIG ARTS Cancellation Policy: There is a minimum of 4 students required to run a class/workshop.  If the minimum number of students is not met one week (7 days) prior to the start of class BIG ARTS will cancel the class and refund students who are registered.
