Monday & Tuesday, April 7 & 8, 2025 from 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM
2-day workshop fee: $185 / $148 annual donors
This workshop will focus on shapes, value, and color harmony to create expressive, painterly florals. Students will do notan exercises to express the composition in terms of shapes and patterns and will create thumbnail sketches to identify value (lights, darks, and mid tones). Through color exercises, you’ll learn various color-harmony techniques. We will be transferring photos you bring to large canvases (see “Supplies” below). There will be demonstrations and exercises on both days. We will be painting loosely and saying more with less.
Day 1:
-Notan drawings – demos and exercises.
-Value sketches – demos and exercises
-Underpainting both canvases (paint and spray bottles)
-Lunch – 1/2 hour – students will have access to a refrigerator.
-Transferring photos to canvas and deciding on a color scheme
Day 2:
-Review Day 1 information and question followed by painting demo (color harmony – mother color)
-Lunch 1/2 hour – students will have access to a refrigerator.
-Paint, paint, paint, and quick critique!

Cancellations made more than one week (7-days) prior to the start of class will receive an 80% refund.
OR
Your funds may be applied to another workshop of your choice during the current season.
Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable for cancellations made less than one week (7-days) prior to the start of the class.
