In this four-week workshop open to all levels, you will discover the joy of writing as you write with others to generate fresh material, whether it be for fiction, nonfiction, or poetry – or simply for your own pleasure.

You will have the opportunity to practice using ten-minute free writings with prompts and various jumpstarts. By the end of the workshop, your writer’s notebook will be full of new writing. You can also receive written feedback from the instructor on one completed piece of writing.

Course plan:

Class One:  Beginnings (getting started, writing envelopes, free writing)
Class Two:  People and Places (characters, conflict, and settings)
Class Three: Stories, Letters, and Poems (finding shapes and forms)
Class Four: Endings (revising and editing)

Instructor

Vicky Lettmann headshot.Vicky Lettmann grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina. She graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with a degree in English. She went on to earn an M.A.T. in English (UNC-Chapel Hill), an M. A. in Comparative Literature (Indiana University), and an M.F.A. in Fiction Writing (Warren Wilson College).

Vicky’s college teaching career began at Slippery Rock State University in Pennsylvania and continued at North Hennepin Community College in Minneapolis, where she founded and edited the literary arts magazine, Under Construction. She is the co-editor of When Last on Mountain: The View from Writers over 50. She has published three collections of poetry: The Beach, What Can Be Saved, and most recently, Listening to Chopin Late at Night.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations made more than one week prior to the start of class will receive an 80% refund.

-Or- funds can be transferred to any other workshop of your choice during the current season.

Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable for cancellations made less than one-week (7-days) prior to the start of the class.
